Chaiwalla expansion with summer menu

Chaiiwala has extended its partnership with motorway services operator Roadchef, with the opening of a second container-based site. The first kiosk site under the partnership launch last year at the Watford Gap services on the M1 (northbound).

The 130 square-foot café marked Chaiiwala’s first location at a service motorway station as a part of the company’s strategy to expand through opening diverse formats in high-footfall, on-the-go locations.

The café initially opened for three months from August last year. The second roadside kiosk site has now opened at Roadchef’s Sandbach South services on the M6.

Tim Gittins, chief executive of Roadchef, said: “After a successful trial at Watford Gap we are pleased to announce our latest new opening of Chaiiwala at Sandbach South on the M6. Our teams at Roadchef have worked closely with Chaiiwala to design a kiosk that is more ergonomic and spacious, enabling a wider menu and increased operational capacity. We are delighted to be offering our customers the UK’s leading Indian street food cafe. Many more to come over the next few weeks.”

The brand has also launched a new lighter summer menu, including a chicken tikka salad and kebab caesar salad, using Chaiiwala’s existing in store proteins alongside fresh ingredients including lettuce, guacamole, sweetcorn and red cabbage ‘slaw.

There will also be two limited edition avocado toasts – the egg burji avo toast, made with desi-style scrambled egg, and the butter chicken avo toast. Alongside the food range will be a badam milkshake, made with real dairy almond ice cream with pistachio and saffron, and a desi cold coffee, a blend of karak coffee and vanilla ice cream finished with a smooth foam.

Founder Sohail Ali said: “Customers are increasingly looking for lighter and more balanced options, particularly during the summer, but they do not want to compromise on flavour. Our new limited edition summer menu brings together lower calorie, higher protein options with the bold Indian inspired flavours our customers already know and love.”
