Vintage Brewery reveals BARHI date and honey beers

Vintage Brewery is claiming a “world’s first” with its beer made with fresh dates and honey new alcoholic beverage, “born not in a brewery, but at the dining table” and bridges the “historical gap” between what we drink and what we eat.

Vintage’s founder Vikas Thakker invented the brew, feeling that other beers failed to match his culinary experiences and he approached every restaurant visit with his excitement reserved entirely for the food.

He says his vision for BARHI began with a profound respect for the plate which revealed a “massive flaw” in how we dine, feeling that drinks were being
manufactured in isolation, forcing consumers to find food that matched their alcohol and that the entire process was “backwards” and “completely disconnecting our glass from the meal we are about to eat.”

BARHI is available in two flavors: BARHI Original (made from fresh dates and honey) and BARHI Spiced (infused with star anise and orange peel).

Developed entirely around a “food first” mentality, it is designed to sit naturally alongside flavor-rich cuisines. It was crafted to specifically complement the complex
spices of Indian cuisine, “pairing effortlessly” with rich, aromatic dishes like butter chicken, slow-cooked lamb rogan josh, and fragrant biryanis.
At 6% ABV, the lightly sparkling beverage is naturally gluten-free, contains no added sugar, and is distinctly low in carbohydrates and calories.

Thakker says he spent 16 years perfecting his recipe so that the “natural complexity of Barhee dates and honey perfectly enhances, rather than clashes with, bold Indian flavours,” and to have personally poured more than 10,000 tastings.

Early adopters of the beer include Pahli Hill Bandra Bhai and Bombay Delight restaurants.
