Indian street food chain Chaiiwala is targeting the evening trade with its first munch box and sharing platters. A new initiative for the brand, The ‘Wala Box; offers customers a single serve way to sample several Chaiiwala menu items for lunch or dinner. Each box includes any signature Wala Wrap or Bombay Toastie, loaded chips, a Punjabi samosa or any pasty and chilli and garlic dip, “creating an affordable all-in-one meal for solo diners”.
Additionally, Chaiiwala has launched a new family platter, which includes two Wala wraps and two Bombay toasties – both of which will be cut and wrapped to serve four portions – alongside chips, two Punjabi samosas, pani puri poppers, a selection of three dips and ten shareable sugared doughnuts.
Co-founder Sohail Ali said: “For me, the best thing about Indian food is the mix of textures and tastes, but not everyone wants to – or can afford to – order a heavy curry, rice and sides every time they want to enjoy Indian flavours.
With the launch of these menu options, we’re embracing our role as the pioneers of Indian street food and making it even easier for solo flavour-seekers to enjoy a tasty and affordable lunch or bring people together for a memorable meal. It also strengthens our offer for dinner and late-night dining.” Chaiiwala operates circa 115 sites across the UK, 23 in Canada and a handful in Dubai.
Chaiiwala plans to scale up to 500 global locations in the next ten years including a US launch.
