Suffolk’s Bombay Nite reopends under new ownership

Suffolk restauranteur Ash Malik has acquired a second site, Bombay Nite in Walton, near Felixstowe. Malik, whose family runs The Royal Bengal in Woodbridge acquired Bombay Nite, in High Street, which closed in July after owner Mahbub Alam Shamim, known as ‘Shammi’, retired after 35 years in the business.

Malik’s father Shahidul opened The Royal Bengal in 1982, with Malik taking over in 2014.

Shammi, who became well-known for his “Bombay Bash” charity events, said: “This journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.

“Filled with wonderful experiences, growth, so many meaningful connections and countless memories which I will always cherish.

“I’m deeply grateful for the trust, support and collaboration I’ve experienced over the years.

“As I prepare for this next chapter, I want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to all of my wonderful customers.

“Whether we worked together for years or our paths have crossed only briefly, you’ve contributed to a business and a special team of people I’ve been truly proud of.”
